AFM
Extrude Hone AFM is most known for its AFM process. During this process, specially-designed abrasive media is sent through a workpiece with a ram, which results in erosion in every hard-to-reach crevice. Each AFM process is unique because each workpiece is different. The highest material removal happens wherever the flow is restricted because the flow speed and pressure of the media increase in smaller areas. EDM Recast Removal
Another one of our popular services is EMD recast removal. We remove EDM’s recast layer from molds, dies, and other parts machined by this method. Extrude Hone AFM offers surface finishes that can resist stress crack propagation. For mold and dies, this helps to form process and part release. With our EDM recast removal process, it’s possible to polish a 1 micron (40Ra) surface finish down to a 0.1 micron (4Ra) surface finish without altering the required shape of the workpiece.

Surface finishes and materials
The surface finish of any given material is highly important, and making sure that surface is polished perfectly makes a huge difference – particularly in medical, food processing, and various other applications. EH Media
Our specially-formulated new finish machining tool, which is a plastic, abrasive-laden polymer with very rheological properties is adjusted for every application. It can provide a wide range of results from fine honing to aggressive surface removal, depending on each client’s intended outcome. Viscosities, speed, and pressure can vary for each intended application. That’s why each application is custom-designed.
