Back up… what is extrude honing?

Extrude honing is a process that enhances the performance of many parts utilized in various industries, including but not limited to aerospace, automotive, food processing, and medical industries. Learn more about the industries we assist here.

During abrasive flow machining (AFM), abrasive media (which is similar to the consistency of wet cement or mud) flows through the part. The abrasive particles in the media gently remove any raised pieces in the part. Media moves through the part with a hydraulic ram that makes the media move perfectly through the part, including tight spaces and other areas that would be difficult to access otherwise.

A Unique AFM design is necessary for each part

Each AFM process needs to be specifically designed for each particular part so that the media can run through it smoothly and achieve optimal performance enhancement for each part.
