Here at Extrude Hone AFM, we take pride in our process every single day. One way we apply our patented process is through the extrude honing of dies, molds, and gears. Extrude Hone AFM impeccably finishes dies, molds, and gears. AFM is now used by more than half of the world’s manufacturers of precision through passage dies (yes, you read that right – over half!). This is because of a bunch of different reasons:
- The process polishes surfaces in the direction of flow, producing a better quality and longer lasting die with a uniform surface and gently radiused edges
- The die passage itself provides for the restriction of media flow, which typically eliminates fixture requirements
- Multiple passages can be processed simultaneously
- Surface finishes are improved by 90% with minimal dimensional change
- The uniformity of stock removal permits accurate “sizing” of undersized die passage
- Jobs requiring hours of highly skilled hand polishing are processed automatically in far less processing time than traditional methods
